January Evening Meeting 2010

The fifth meeting of our 2009/10 season will be held on Thursday, 21st January at 8pm. It will be a demonstration of  painting Flowers in Watercolours given by Fiona Peart. (demo location).

December Evening Meeting 2009

The Fourth meeting of our 2009/10 season is the Christmas Social

(location) with the usual food and drink to be held on Thursday, 10th December at 8pm. Note the date! Also there will be a short demonstration of  Stained Glass Work given by Anna Conti . 

Members may bring their friends and tickets are £5 each (for both members and friends. Please buy them in advance, ring Trixie 01525 379948).

November Evening Meeting 2009

Exhibition October 2009

The LBAS Autumn Exhibition held on 26th to 31st October had a good selection of paintings on display but unfortunately sales were very disappointing (only one framed and 10 unframed pictures sold)

September Evening Meeting 2009

The first meeting of our 2009/10 season was held on Thursday, 17th September at 8pm. It started with the AGM and was followed by a demonstration of Pastel Painting given by Jane Rhodes. (demo location).

Woburn Open Art Exhibition 2009

As last year this will be organised by MKSA and held in Woburn Lower School on Saturday and Sunday 11th & 12th September 09. Anyone can exhibit. (Website)

LBAS Spring Exhibition 2009

The spring exhibition was open to the public from Wednesday 27 May to Saturday 30 May 2009 at Leighton Middle School (Bridge Street entrance). The exhibition was enjoyed by many visitors but, in this time of financial constraint, sales were down. The 'Favorite Picture' selected by visitors was Eddie Stamp's "April Sunlight".

January Evening Meeting 2009

The fifth meeting of this season held on Thursday, 15th January was an interesting lecture on the Picasso painting called "Guernica" delivered by Anthony Slinn in his usual enthusiastic style.

April Evening Meeting 2008

The eighth meeting of our 2007/08 season will be on Thursday, 17th April at 8pm. A demonstration of gouache painting will be given by Clifford Knight and the subject will be 'Industrial Decay'. (demo location)

February Evening Meeting 2008

The sixth meeting of our 2007/08 season was on Thursday, 21st February at 8pm. The demonstration of African Scenes using Texture Paste was given by Dee Cowell. (demo location)

The fifth meeting of our 2007/08 season was held on Thursday, 17th January. Anthony Slinn gave an enjoyable and informative slide lecture on Van Gogh with his usual enthusiastic delivery .  (demo location)

There was a Sculpture Workshop run by Val Kyle on 12th January 2008 at St Leonard's Hall, Heath & Reach 10am - 4pm.It was greatly enjoyed by those attending and some very good work was produced.

December Evening Meeting 2007

The fourth meeting of our 2007/08 season was our Christmas Social evening (by Tickets only) and was on the SECOND Thursday, 13th December at 7:30pm. 
It began with a excellent short  demonstration  on Chinese Brush Painting  given by Jean Turton.
This was followed by plenty of food and drink so the latter gave a good excuse for recognising hardly any of the pictures of paintings hung on the wall by Barbara Harris. It was an enjoyable party game nevertheless and someone got nearly all of them right - a tea-totaller I suspect!
 

November Evening Meeting 2007

The third meeting of our 2007/08 season was on Thursday, 15th November at 8pm. The demonstration was  an Experimental Still Life in very flowing Watercolour given by Jackie Devereux.  (demo location)

LBAS Autumn Art Exhibition 2007

This exhibition was held from Tuesday, 23rd October 2007 to Saturday, 27th October 2007 from 10am to 5pm (4pm Sat.) in Leighton Middle School, Bridge Street Entrance, Leighton Buzzard

October Evening Meeting 2007

The second meeting of our 2007/08 season was on Thursday, 18th October at 8pm. The demonstration was of a Marine Painting in Mixed Media given by Derek Daniels. It was particularly good. 

September Evening Meeting 2007

The first meeting of our 2007/08 season is on 20th September. It will start with the AGM and will be followed by a demonstration given by Bob Harris of a watercolour landscape painting using a limited palette.  (demo location)

Woburn Art Exhibition 2007

This Open exhibition and sale was held on Saturday, 1st and Sunday, 2nd September 2007 in St. Mary's Church, Woburn.

Painting Days in August 2007

Two outdoor painting days were arranged for LBAS members 
The first on Thursday, 9 August at Bellows Mill, Eaton Bray and the second on Thursday, 23 August at Aston P.Y.O. Fruit Farm, Ivinghoe where you can paint sunflowers (or whatever you like)

June Demonstration 2007

This was on Thursday, 21 June, our last demonstration evening this season. Paul Howard gave a demonstration of how to paint nighttime scenes in acrylics, fairgrounds in his case, when the lighting is also in the picture. He also made interesting remarks about Fairground History.  (demo location)

May Demonstration 2007

This was on Thursday, 17 May. David James gave a demonstration of how to approach a watercolour line and wash painting of a Townscape.  (demo location)

Spring Exhibition 2007

This was held 28 May to 2 June 07. A very good exhibition with over 300 visitors but a disappointing number of sales!

April Demonstration 2007

This will be held on Thursday, 19 April. at 8pm,  [demo location] 
and Saranya French will demonstrate the painting Flowers using mixed media.

March Demonstration 2007

This was held on Thursday, 15 March. at 8pm,  [demo location] 
and Charles Evans demonstrated the painting of a Seascape using watercolours.

February Demonstration 2007

This was held on Thursday, 15 Feb. at 8pm,  [demo location] 
and Tony Cowlinshaw demonstrated the painting of a Coastal View with boats in a harbour using watercolours.

January Demonstration 2007

This was held on Thursday, 18 Jan. at 8pm, at which Terry Harrison demonstrated using Acrylics in both watercolour and oils techniques for Painting Landscapes.

Christmas Social 2006

This was held on Thursday, 14 Dec. at 7:30pm. In addition to the food and wine it included an unusual demonstration of painting with encaustic wax. The LBAS Christmas Tree made by Les Franklin for the tree festival was on show [click here to see].

November Demonstration 2006

This was held on Thursday, 16 Nov. at 8pm, at which Ian King demonstrated the use of watercolours for Painting Landscapes.

June Demonstration 2006

This was on Thursday, 15 June, our last demonstration evening this season. Sue Ellen Wilder could not manage to come and was replaced by Robert Newark who used Pen/Ink Line Wash & Watercolour to paint Salisbury Cathedral.  (demo location)

The LBAS Spring Exhibition and Sale

held at Leighton Middle School will be open to the public each day at 10am from Wednesday 31st May to Saturday 3rd June 2006 (admission free).  There will also be a private view evening for LBAS members and their guests on Tuesday 30th May.

May Demonstration 2006
This was held on Thursday, 18 May at 8pm,  
at which Liz Relfe painted a stunning Still Life by freely using watercolour & acrylic inks with soluble pastels.

On this evening we used our newly purchased digital projector and screen for the first time - which was a great success.

April Demonstration 2006
This was held on Thursday, 20 April at 8pm,  
at which Bill Wheeler produced an imaginative seascape.

March Demonstration 2006
This was held on Thursday, 16 March at 8pm,  
at which Ian Risely will demonstrate
the use of pastels to paint an Alsatian.

We have reached the end of the 2004/2005 Season and there will be no more demonstrations, painting days or workshops until 15 September 2005 when the 2005/06 Season begins.

Paintings, Ceramics, Patchwork and Quilting

was held Saturday, 4th September to Monday, 6th September 2004 and was very successful.

 This Exhibition was Supported by Leighton Buzzard Art Society and other local art societies.

The weekend coincided with the Woburn Oyster Festival that attracts thousands of people to the town.
